Flamenco and Latin Music
Flamenco is a style of music focused on showcasing love, passion and it’s mostly accompanied by Spanish guitar and a very specific dance. It was created in Spain at first (Andalusia), however it was influenced by oriental regions basically, such as Iraq and India among many others. What makes flamenco music stand out is the fact that it focuses a lot on guitars ( Spanish guitar ) and hand clapping. There’s also the Latin America music that’s very well connected to regular Latin music. In fact, you will actually find a variety of styles such as Bossa Nova, Samba, Salsa, Tango and Rumba, among others. All of these play off the guitar sounds and add in various other instruments to create a very vibrant and exciting musical experience for everyone out there.
Latino music has been around since the 40s, and it was mostly created by people in the US which had a Spanish origin. One of the pioneers would be Xavier Cugat, and you also have Tito Puente. During the 60s you had the bossa nova explosion with Antonio Carlos Jobim being an extremely good example in that regard. The next decade brought in a lot of salsa, to the point where companies like Fania Records became super popular thanks to it. Julio Iglesias and Raphael were some great acts back in the day. During the 90s latin music changed quite a lot and it also brought in some new genres such as Tejano music and even some tropical music. This goes to show the depth and variety offered by this type of music.
